Dear Friend,

Welcome to ITI Today, your weekly update from ITI!  We exist to serve and learn, every day, and we appreciate your investment in improving your organization's operations through educational services with our elite staff, training centers, and various training delivery methods.

A few very exciting projects we are working on to better serve you include building training centers in Cleveland and Houston. Additionally, our online Rigging Engineering Program recently gained approval from ASME for CEUs - this is the first set of courses related to cranes and rigging that have gained such credentials.

I am so proud of our team who is responsible for these recent achievements while we continue to lead North America in delivering instructor-led courses. You can view photo albums of many of these initiatives as well as courses conducted by our world-leading Instructor Team on the ITI Facebook Page Photo Albums.

Please feel free to contact me or anyone on our team if we can serve you in your industrial training needs. We have some very exciting announcements still to come this year, stay tuned.

Sincerely,

Zack Parnell, President, ITI

Toolbox Talk Rigging Exercise

For your next toolbox talk, utilize the this panel of the Horizontal Rigging Reference Card and challenge your crew with the following questions:

1.  In order to determine line pull required to pull a load up an incline plane (Force), what variables must be determined?

2. What is the Force required to pull a 45,000 lbs. load where L = 20', H = 5', R = 18', and you are using rollers beneath the load?

3. What is the Force required to pull a 10,000 lbs. load where L = 35', H = 10', R = 30', and you skidding the steel load on a steel surface?

Answers:

1. Load Weight, Length of Incline, Height of Incline, Run of Incline, Surface Material (e.g. concrete, steel), Roller Material (e.g. steel, wood), and Coefficient of Friction.

2. Force = 13,275 lbs.

3. Force = 3,715 lbs.
