Dear Friend,

200+ Participate in Crane & Rigging Showcase

Two Events Held at ITI/Barnhart Training Center in Memphis

For a week, Memphis, Tennessee was the epicenter of the crane, rigging, and heavy transport world as hundreds gathered at the ITI Training Center on the campus of Barnhart Crane and Rigging's Memphis Branch. Two events, the Electric Power Research Institute's (EPRI) Hoisting, Rigging, and Crane User Group (HRCUG) annual meeting, and the first ever Crane & Rigging Expo, attracted industry leaders for education, equipment demos, keynote sessions, and much more.

Hands-on workshop sessions and equipment demonstrations led by ITI and Barnhart personnel included:

  • Overhead Crane Load Handling
  • Chain Hoist & Drifting
  • Mobile Crane Lifting with Load Nests
  • Wincing with Rollers Up an Incline Plane
  • Hydraulic Skidding & Jacking
  • SPMT Obstacle Course
  • Hydraulic Tip Stick
  • Pull-Up Gantry Systems
  • Adjustable Cantilever Beams
  • Powered Saddle Rollers
  • And More

The EPRI HRCUG exists to provided a forum for the exchange of information on:

  • Lifting and rigging practices
  • Crane operation and maintenance
  • Material handling equipment and activities

Additionally, the EPRI HRCUG seeks to improve the technical expertise of plant personnel responsible for rigging, lifting, crane usage and maintenance, and materials handling. Attendees of the 2016 group meeting had the objective of providing the latest technical and regulatory issues for the crane, lifting and rigging, and material handling contacts in nuclear plants.

In short, the first ever Crane & Rigging Expo was touted as, "an educational event for decision-makers who manage, crane, rigging and transport activities." It turned out to be much more, with attendees from numerous industries coming to Memphis from across North America.
