New Overhead Crane Inspector Training Options: A Course for all Skill & Experience Levels

Industrial Training International (ITI), is expanding training options for Overhead Crane Inspection with three new course offerings via the ITI Learning Hub. The three new courses, along with the existing 3-Day Instructor-Led Overhead Crane Inspector Certification offered at ITI Training Centers and Customer Locations, ensure a suitable solution is available for teams and individuals in need of professional development and skill building in this vital aspect of working with overhead cranes.

To understand which of the new course offerings is the best fit for perspective students, it is imperative to answer the following question - Which type of inspections are you or your employees going to conduct?

Regulatory bodies such as OSHA, ASME, and CMAA recognize two distinct types of inspections: frequent and periodic

A frequent inspection is defined as a visual and audible inspection typically conducted at the ground or floor level. OSHA 1910.179 and ASME B30.2-2.1.2 highlight frequent inspection requirements in detail.

A periodic inspection is still a visual and audible inspection, but additionally, total access to the crane is required and the inspection cannot be conducted from the floor or ground level in entirety. As the name suggests, periodic inspections are to be performed at regular intervals which are dependent on the service level of the crane in question. OSHA 1910.179 and ASME B30.2-2.1.3 highlight periodic inspection requirements in detail.

Depending on the answer(s) to the question above, the following matrix serves as a guide to finding the most suitable ITI course offering:

Course Descriptions

The following Overhead Crane Inspector Training Courses are available exclusively through the ITI Learning Hub.

Overhead Crane Inspector Certification | 12 Hours | Online and On-Demand + VR Practical Exam | $995

This course includes a written exam and practical VR assessment. VR-OHCI-Capture-Image5-450pxOnce the student completes the online portion of the course, they access the VR simulation which allows them to put their newly acquired skills and knowledge to use by virtually inspecting an overhead crane. There is a total of 17 inspection points across two levels. An algorithm dictates whether the student is inspecting a point on the crane that should “pass” or “fail” the inspection. Even if the student repeats a level more than once, they will not get the same pass/fail on each inspection point. Once the student determines whether or not an inspection point passes or fails, they receive immediate feedback and the appropriate standards and regulations that pertain pop up on the screen for their review. The VR simulator is complete with all of the sights and sounds that an inspector would experience in a real-world situation. Upon successful completion of both the written exam and practical assessment, a certification is issued. Expiration is two years.

Overhead Crane Inspector Recertification | 12 Hours | Online and On-Demand | $595
