Long Island based Sheet Metal, Air, Rail and Transport (SMART) Local 137 has joined the growing ranks of unions utilizing the latest in learning and recruiting technology with the addition of the ITI VR Boom Truck Simulator and robust Crane & Rigging Library of ITI Online. This new asset and learning system will allow for increased seat time and preparation training for Operators preparing for their NCCCO certification and re-certification exams with the added benefits of available usage on demand and throughout the Northeasts often unforgiving winters and availability of use without relying on equipment availability or classroom space. The Boom Truck Simulator will be powered by the flexibility of the ITI VR Essentials subscription which allows SMART Local 137 to access only the crane type they need for an unlimited number of operators. The ITI Online Library will be backed by the per-launch option which allows SMART Local 137 to use the launched purchased on demand for any of the ITI Crane & Rigging Library courses.
SMART Local 137 was established over a century ago and has served the New York City metropolitan area and beyond in installing signs, awnings, banners, billboards, road signs, skyscrapers, and buildings. Their extensive apprenticeship program moves from basic sign making through advanced skills for fabrication and installation. Successful candidates graduate from the program as journeymen with about 19 licences and certifications. Safety, education, empowerment and employment remain the top statutes of SMART Local 137.
