Tour the Immersive Realities Center, at the ExxonMobil Houston Campus, to learn how the company thinks about immersive learning applications. The tour description can be found below.

Come and experience Immersive Technology (Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality, Assisted Reality, etc.) in ExxonMobil’s Immersive Realities Center. This workspace is outfitted with the latest Immersive equipment, multiple digital displays, and desk space to collaborate for demonstrations, consultations, and project implementation. You’ll have the opportunity to view and/or participate in demonstrations of VR Training, 3D Model Design Review Platforms, RealWear, and more. Tour attendees will have the unique chance to see the work environment where the future of ExxonMobil’s digital realities will be formed.

ITI and ExxonMobil will facilitate two separate tour groups (A and B), which will depart by bus from the Health & Safety Council in Pasadena, TX. The tours are by invitation only due to space limitations. Guest list for this tour will be finalized by 1/27/23. Tour times will be:

  • Group A: 11:30am-3:30pm (onsite 12:30pm-2:30pm)
  • Group B: 1:30pm-6:00pm (onsite 2:30pm-4:30pm)

LUIS AGUILAR CEO | HASC

Luis Aguilar serves as the CEO for the Health and Safety Council. He was a Professor at the University of Honduras before starting his career as an engineer working for Bechtel, focusing on control systems throughout North and South America. Shortly after the 1989 Greater Houston Area industrial explosion, a task force led by Luis was created to form a third-party learning center. Over the past 31 years,  he has continued to lead the effort and growth of HASC through innovation and the creation of technological advancements.

Thomas Barrett has served as the Director of Learning & Development at Manson Construction Co. since 2020. Prior to that he worked as Principal Consultant for Performance by Design and spent 10+ years as the Executive Director for NWCI/MACTC. He holds a PhD in Curriculum & Instruction/Educational Philosophy from Virginia Tech.

Trina Baughman is a United States Marine Corps Veteran who has 20+ years’ experience working for Liebherr. She started in an Admin Support role and worked her way up to Service Manager. In January 2022 Trina was appointed Product Manager - Digital Services, working with the MyLiebherr portal. Trina provides direct product support to all Liebherr customers throughout the United States.

DICK HANNAH VP of Learning & Innovation | HASCDick Hannah serves as the VP of Learning and Innovation for HASC. He has worked in organizations supporting the energy industry for 20+ years working primarily in skills and safety training. Currently he is investigating how HASC can develop techniques to deliver computer-based, instructor-led, and hands-on training in more effective and innovative ways. Recent projects include blending VR into the HASC eLearning mix, implementing microlearning strategies for HASC members, and researching opportunities to help develop leadership training for the learning community HASC supports.

He has accrued a wealth of experience from a variety of industries including petroleum distribution, where he held roles as software development product manager and IS Director, the public sector where he served as the CIO of the Oregon Department of Justice, and the crane industry where he was the general manager of Axis Crane, a customer of FCC. His experience on both sides of the software industry gives him a unique perspective.

With a special interest in industrial skills training, Andrew guided TPC Training Systems to become a market leader. Ken Reynolds has 20 plus years’ experience in lifting and hoisting. He has supported various lines throughout Shell’s Upstream, Midstream, and Downstream businesses, and has provided L&H support for Shell’s transitional businesses in Energy: solar, wind, methane capture, and hydrogen. Mr. Reynolds’ current role of Industry Safety Standards advisor is to facilitate the transition from internal standards to industry safety standards. He participates on ASME, API, IOGP, and other industry trade associations.
