Mobile Crane Inspector focuses on spotting the problems and identifying the damage that can be discovered through external evaluation. It addresses MESH (mechanical, electrical, structural and hydraulic) components.

All mechanics and maintenance personnel who are responsible for their company's crane(s) should attend this course, especially those industries with high use cranes, such as production and construction.

Each student that completes the full 5-day course will receive 4.0 Continuing Education Units (CEUs), as well as a certificate of completion.

Learning Objectives

Safety Procedures The trainee will be able to identify safety procedures and equipment needed to conduct inspections.
Record Keeping The trainee will be able to determine the inspection and record keeping requirements for mobile cranes.
Component Identification The trainee will be able to identify different types of cranes and recognize each crane’s components as necessary for inspection procedures.
Structural Components The trainee will be able to locate, identify and inspect the crane’s structural components.
Mechanical Systems The trainee will be able to locate, identify and inspect the crane’s mechanical systems.
Electrical, Hydraulic, and Air Systems

The trainee will be able to locate, identify and inspect the crane’s electrical, hydraulic and air systems as applicable.

Hoist Systems

The trainee will be able to locate, identify and inspect the hoist systems.

Crane Safety Items The trainee will be able to locate, identify and inspect the crane’s safety items.
Full Inspection The trainee will perform an inspection of a mobile crane.

Daily Training Schedule

Each participant will receive a Mobile Crane Inspector Student Workbook, Mobile Crane Inspection Guidelines - OSHA, Mobile Crane Pendant Line Removal Criteria, Rigging Gear Inspection Reference Card, Lattice Boom Cranes Inspection Form, Telescoping Boom Cranes Inspection Form, Sheave Gauges (x2), Calipers, Marlin Spike, and ITI Mobile Crane Inspector Load Charts.
