Rigging Engineering Calculations Collection

Introducing the Rigging Engineering Calculations Collection! This new course offering provides an overview of common Rigging Engineering topics and how to analyze example problems from Rigging Engineering Calculations, by Keith Anderson.

Our six-part collection is comprised of Rigging Engineering topics, including calculating problems related to Drifting Loads, Forces in Spreader Systems, Load Distribution Beneath Mobile Cranes, Upending Using Two Lifting Devices, Forces in Bridle Slings, and Assessing Wind Forces. Many of the modules include interactive surveys, ensuring that learners are engaged and challenged throughout the learning process.

Rigging Engineering Cal Collection

Forces in Spreader Systems | 20 min

Review the forces acting in a spreader bar system and how to analyze example problems in this initial module of the course collection from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 6.

Topics addressed include theory and examples pertaining to Equal Leg Spreader Arrangements, Unequal Leg Spreader Arrangements, and Use of Rolling Blocks.

Forces in Bridle Slings | 40 min

Review the forces acting in a sling bridle system and how to analyze example problems in this second, interactive module from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 4.

In this section, we cover the Effects of Sling Inclination, Two-Legged Bridles, Suspension from Three Attachment Points - polar and distance theory, Three-Legged Bridles - including same elevation and differing elevations, and Suspension from more than Three Attachment Points.

Drifting a Load | 40 min

Review drifting a load and how to analyze example problems in this interactive module from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 9.

During this section of the collection, we address the question, "What is drifting a load?" We also evaluate Force Changes While Drifting and specifically address Two Lift Points via theory, examples, and a student survey.

Load Distribution Beneath Mobile Cranes | 60 min

Review load distribution beneath mobile cranes and how to analyze example problems in this interactive module from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 13.

In this section, we take a deeper look at the theories behind Load Distribution and review examples of the practice. A comprehensive survey is included.

Upending Using Two Lifting Devices | 20 min

Review upending a load using two lifting devices and how to analyze example problems in this interactive module from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 5.

This section of the collection specifically addresses Free Suspension and Lifting Device and Tilt-up Hinge, including theory breakdowns, use case scenarios, and a student survey.

Assessing Wind Forces | 20 min

Review wind force calculations and how to analyze example problems in this interactive module from Rigging Engineering Calculations by Keith Anderson, Chapter 14.

This final section in the collection covers Wind Force theory and examples. This section wraps up with a survey for students to test and showcase their knowledge gained or reaffirmed.

Rigging Engineering Calc Book

Get the most out of your course collection by investing in a copy of the book that inspired the series – Rigging Engineering Calculations. Expand your library with this “how to” resource which covers many of the calculations required in rigging operations. Whether you’re simply in need of a look-up reference for formulas or it’s a deep dive that you’re after, Keith Anderson’s oft referenced volume is a great addition to any bookshelf. Note: The course collection is sold without the book.
