TVA Turns to ITI VR Crane Simulations to Train Their Nuclear Fleet

ITI VR Crane Simulators have been selected by the Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA) to train new crane operators and retrain existing operators for their nuclear generation fleet. ITI will provide TVA with 6 ITI VR Simulator Stations at 3 different TVA locations (ITI VR Desktop Stations). TVA decided to power their desktop stations with an ITI VR Unlimited Subscription Plan which provides additional crane models, new scenarios and updates as they are released, at no additional cost.

As active members of the Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI), TVA personnel traveled to ITI's World Headquarters in Woodland, WA, for a special Accident Investigation workshop as part of the 2018 Hoisting, Rigging, and Crane User Group Workshop (HRCUG). In addition to the two day Accident Investigation Workshop, all EPRI HRCUG attendees were offered the opportunity to utilize the full fleet of ITI VR stations.

TVA contributes to future developments within ITI VR as an active member of the VR Technical Advisory Groups (TAG). Benefits include:

  • The first look at new releases
  • The opportunity to provide direct feedback to developers
  • Priority option for future development (new environments, loads, crane types, etc.)
