Best Training In My 35-Year Career

Excellent field trip.  This course is particularly standard/regulation loaded curriculum and is difficult to teach in a compressed 3-4 day schedule.  ITI and in particular the instructor Jim Cox has superlatively organized the course themes into a very understandable and user-friendly way  educational experience and the strong point is the very successful way student/teacher interchange.   Excellent preparation, course material, and instructor delivery.

I have been to a huge amount of technical training over my 35+ year career and I must enthusiastically say that this course is one of the very best I have attended.  Superlative organization and instructor/student interchange.  Extremely professional and very capable instructor Jim Cox, who has a very positive connection to the students.  Excellent job Jim!!  Thanks ITI!!

[Forrest's Memo to Hawaiian Dredging Employees]

Last week Gordon Caughman, Macy Wessel and I attended crane training at the ITI (Industrial Training International) facility in Woodland Washington. The training/certifications we completed are to satisfy emerging OSHA/ASME standards that will become industry requirements in the near future (early 2011).

Specifically we:

  • Completed ‘Lift Director/Site Supervisor' training course
  • Completed ‘Critical Lift Planning' training course
  • Completed ‘Advanced Rigger Certification' exam

Next Step:

  • Macy and I should participate in the ‘Master Rigger' program. In 1 week we will be able to gain experience in a wide range of lifting scenarios using many types of equipment (standard rigging, jacks, Hillmans, air beams, etc..). This is NOT a bunch of paperwork, rather a very practical experience that should better prepare us to develop lift plans and evaluate work practices.
  • We need to make sure enough ‘Advanced Riggers' are available on site. In the future lifts will need to be supervised by people with this qualification - something Joaquin can expand upon better than I. The P&I division probably needs 2 additional people with this certification.

Thoughts on the Training Program:

  • I was VERY impressed with ITI's facility and course materials. The problem solving portion of the ‘Advanced Rigger Certification' material is some of the best I have seen. The facility has almost every technology you can imagine available for use and training. The practical problem solving exercises are very educational and well thought out.
  • I can easily recommend a continuing relationship with ITI for our training.

Mike,

We were VERY impressed with the training program, specifically:

  • The facility is awesome, it is great to have all that gear in one place to play with. It's got everything; air beams, Hillmans, you name it!
  • All your personnel were great to deal with. The instructors we had (Dwight and Bob) were great in the classroom and in the field.

We really appreciate the help and hope to see you guys again soon.

Every Single Employee has Enjoyed the Rigging Training

Devon Beasley June 17, 2010
The first round of mobile crane training has been completed here at the Sherco Generating Station. Devon Beasley has done an outstanding job of engaging our employees in both classroom and hands on training. I can honestly tell you that we hire in trainers, for all kinds of different purposes and what stands out the most with this training is the feedback that I am getting from the employees. Every single one of them at some point during the week have come to my office to express, how well Devon translates the training data into useful, meaningful, easy to understand, information.

On behalf of Xcel Energy - Sherco, I would like to thank Devon and ITI for the first class operation that they provide to us. We look forward to continued business relations now and in the future.

Great Rigging Training for our Crew!

jim cox June 17, 2010
Thank you and Jim Cox for helping to get our crew trained in rigging applications. Jim was a great instructor, we enjoyed his time here with us. I had all of my crew inform me of the outstanding job Jim did; he brought to light many issues that were job specific. Please feel free to pass on our appreciation of Jim and your efforts. We look forward to working with you and your company again.

Great Feedback from Rigging Gear Inspector Training

SGS Safety offered rigging inspection training this week which was presented by Industrial Training International, Inc. There were attendees selected from each Maintenance RA [Repair Area], the Training organization and Safety. The completion of the combination classroom and hands-on field training is a 24 hour technical training that will result (upon successful completion / testing), in attendees receiving a designation of "Certified Rigging Inspector". We are already receiving positive feedback from attendees on the quality of the information being shared. The follow-on plan is to have additional rigging inspection training at a less intense level for other rigging.

Great Rigging Training for our Crew!

Recently we were required to make a 3-crane pick on an ice breaker barge being built at our facility. This was a specialty lift that required several months of pre-planning including developing a critical lift plan and organizing pre-lift meetings with everyone involved. The lift was a great success! Our experienced crew has gained tremendous knowledge and skill by attending advanced training and hands-on activities provided by Industrial Training International. Challenging workshops, hands-on instruction and superior instructors prepared us to accomplish projects like this!

The Most Impressive Crane & Rigging Training Facilities Ever

Having many years of experience in the crane training industry, I have dealt with many of the major training companies. I can honestly say that Industrial Training International, Inc in Woodland, WA is without a doubt one of the most impressive facilities that I have ever seen.

I attended a Journeyman Rigger Program that offered not only classroom time but also a hands-on approach providing us with the knowledge and skill necessary to properly move loads using slings and other rigging hardware. The program was presented by an instructor who was very knowledgeable and has years of experience in the industry. The information and experience that I received was invaluable.

The instructor was as outstanding as the content. The course was great.

There were a lot of good exercises and mixture of different picks we conducted at the training center.

I only wish our company had us in at least one more day of training, it was that good.
